Scotch Doubles Annual Bowling Fundraiser

UPS for DownS has held an annual Scotch Doubles Bowling Fundraiser for over 25 years.  It is a fun filled late-Spring event that includes a buffet dinner, three games of Scotch Doubles bowling, and shoe rental.

The big difference between regular bowling and Scotch Doubles is that you bowl with a partner and the games are completely for fun!  In the first two games the first person bowls the first ball of the frame and then the partner bowls the second turn to finish the frame (unless it’s a strike). For the third game we do CRAZY COSMIC bowling (i.e. bowl backwards, sitting, holding hands, hopping, etc.).  If you are not a bowler, consider this the best time you will ever have bowling.

If you are a bowler, consider this to be a refreshing change of pace. We book each lane with 3 or 4 couples (for a maximum of 7 couples per two lanes).

This event regularly hosts nearly three hundred guests at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights, IL.

UPS for DownS is able to raise money for our various activities through event attendance, grand raffle tickets sold both at the event and in the community and through the choice raffle and other activities held at the Scotch Doubles Bowilng Night.

Can I help my Friend?

Yes! Play with and talk to people with Down syndrome. If they are having trouble playing a game, give them time and a little extra help or ask them what game they would like to play. Be clear in what you are saying. Find out what your friend likes to do. Just hang out together and see what happens. You are more alike than you are different.

Do people with Down syndrome grow up?

Yes. In adulthood, many people with Down syndrome have jobs, go to college, live independently, and support their communities. People with Down syndrome bring to their jobs enthusiasm, reliability, and dedication.
